Mission Bridge Rehabilitation Construction – Research Participation Opportunity 2024

Will your regular commute be affected by the anticipated six-month full closure of Mission Bridge to vehicle traffic? The City of Calgary would love to hear from you! We’re looking for 25 volunteers who commute through the Mission area and rely on Mission Bridge as part of that trip. Our goal is to give you some creative ways to share your lived experience to help us better understand the impact of the rehabilitation work. Once we have your feedback, it will be reviewed and we’ll look for ways to potentially improve your experience with construction.

If you’re interested in participating, the research would need about 90 minutes of your time over a two-week period. Activities include journaling about and mapping your commute experience. Since this is research, an honorarium would be provided to participants for their time. We have some eligibility screening questions for people who are interested in participating in this research to help us ensure the integrity of the research material.

Do you think you know someone who might be interested in participating? You can share this information with them so they can apply to join the study.

The City of Calgary is looking for residents to receive and complete a Neighbourhood Inquiry Kit (NIK). These Kits will help The City of Calgary learn how people commute using Mission Bridge and provide us with insights to help The City make decisions to best meet those needs. We will be asking participants to complete three tasks in the Kit (a commute map, three postcards, and a daily commute diary). It will take about 1.5 hours over a two week period to complete. The Kit will be mailed to you and picked up two weeks later. Once the completed Kit is received by The City of Calgary, participants will be provided with an honorarium of a $100 gift card.
