Upgrades to Marian Gibson Hall
In late 2025 a sub-committee of the Board was formed to discuss possibilities to enhance our Marian Gibson Hall (exterior and interior). The objective of the committee was to modernize the interior use of the space and explore possibilities of expansion, while preserving the character and uniqueness of the hall (within the City of Calgary restrictions on enlarging its footprint). The sub-committee and Board have now reached unanimous agreement on a plan that will:
- enlarge the meeting space of the hall;
- increase efficiency of storage and kitchen space;
- update both washrooms;
- extend outdoor patio space (subject to City approval).
- Improve flow of traffic into and out of the hall
- Upgrade interior space (lighting, flooring, appliances)
The Board is now ready to present the plan to the community and will initiate an engagement process over the next several weeks as follows:
- Sept 12 – Display the floor plan drawings in the hall for review at the summer party. There will be opportunity to submit comments.
- Oct 1- Online survey will follow. An Open House will be scheduled for early October. The survey will close October 31st.
- Nov 15-30- Results of survey will be provided to the community.
During this time, the Board will continue to engage with the City of Calgary (Councillor’s office, Parks and Planning) to move this initiative forward. The Board will also further define costs and funding sources of the project, including community fund-raising, casino funds and community grants.

Marian Gibson Hall has been an important part of our community since the late 1960s.
